I recently came into an old Lenovo Thinkpad that I am planning on using as a 'beater' laptop around the house. Grabbed a brand new SSD, threw it in, and tossed Windows 7 Pro on a USB. The product keys are printed right on the back of these old things so I figured it would be no issue. After installing Windows 7, however, I am unable to activate it. I keep the getting the error code '0x80072F8F'.
From what I understand, this is an issue with Microsoft not recognizing the correct date/time. The thing is.. my date and time are correct. I put it side by side by my other PC and the only noteworthy thing I find is that my desktop PC is about 1 second 'ahead'.
Things I have tried thus far:
Windows Server 2012 Activation Error Code 0x80072f8f
I should also note that I have done the good old reboot after most of these steps. At this point I'm pretty much at a loss.
